We specialize in correcting your body’s misalignments. Our goal is to ensure that your spine and the rest of your body are working harmoniously. To do so, we will help you develop a plan that will require light stretching, some exercise, chiropractic care, and a healthy diet.
Corrective exercises are the use of bodily movements and/or postures to restore desirable changes in diseased or injured tissues. The corrective exercises are movement strategies that minimize or eliminate compensation. Corrective exercises should precede more integrated exercises, because they can cue the patient’s motor system to respond in a more desirable way and assist in removing or improving biomechanical constraints.

Custom foot orthotics are designed to align the foot and ankle into the most anatomically efficient position. They look similar to insoles, but are biomedical appliances that are custom made to correct your specific foot imbalance. The plastic body of the custom orthotic helps to re-align the foot while you walk. We understand that everyone is different, which is why custom foot orthotics are made just for you.
Massage therapy is the manual manipulation of soft body tissues (muscle, connective tissue, tendons and ligaments) to enhance a person’s health and well-being. There are many types of massage therapy methods (also called modalities). People seek massage therapy for a variety of reasons; for example, to reduce stress and anxiety, to relax muscles, to rehabilitate injuries, to reduce pain and to promote overall health and wellness.
Acupuncture is an old healing practice of traditional Chinese medicine dating back over 4,000 years. It still remains effective today as a way to strengthen the body rather than merely treating symptoms. It is primarily used to relieve pain as well as treat other conditions. More than 3 million Americans and 200,000 children in the U.S. have had acupuncture to help relieve a symptom or condition. Because of its low side effects, it has been the treatment of choice for many doctors across the country. It is even more popular in other countries.
Chiropractic care is not just for adults. In fact, more and more parents are seeing the many benefits of their children seeing a chiropractor every single day. Some of the benefits are improved sleep, improved behavior and attitude, and improved immune system function. Children encounter many physical stresses in their life that you may not realize. These stresses can cause your child’s spine to have issues in growth and development.
Here at The Wellness Group, we offer a conservative approach to treating pregnant women. Our prenatal care is gentle and safe. We aim to alleviate the stress and strains of pregnancy while improving comfort for both the mother and baby. We understand the physical changes that come with pregnancy, and we offer relief without using any drugs.
Kinesiology Taping is a precise rehabilitative taping technique that is designed to facilitate the body’s natural healing process while providing support and stability to muscles and joints. This technique allows the body’s normal range of motion as well as providing extending soft tissue manipulation to prolong the benefits of manual therapy administered within the clinical setting. Kinesio tape is latex-free and hypoallergenic which makes it “skin friendly” for patients with sensitive or fragile skin; such as, patients with diabetes, fibromyalgia or rheumatoid arthritis.
Active Release Technique
Active Release Technique (ART) is a soft tissue therapy designed to rid injured areas of scar tissue. Here at The Wellness Group we incorporate ART in our treatment of musculoskeletal disorders to remedy injuries such as carpal tunnel syndrome, shin splints, rotator cuff injuries, sciatica, plantar fasciitis, knee problems, tennis elbow, headaches, and back pain. All of theses conditions tend to have one thing in common: the result of an overused muscle.
We are all prone to over-using muscles while at work and in our daily lives, no matter the occupation. Overuse Syndrome is common in our society. As a result of our work duties, athletic events and daily lives, we are all at risk of developing this syndrome due to repetitive stresses on the same structures. These stresses may not be painful at first, but the body learns to compensate for long term use resulting in the soft tissue adapting and changing over time.
As scar tissue builds up the following may occur:
- Muscles become shorter and weaker
- Tension on tendons causes tendonitis
- Nerves can become entrapped
Each of these factors contribute to symptoms such as:
- Reduced Range of Motion
- Loss of Strength
- Nerve entrapment (If a nerve is trapped, it can cause numbness and tingling in the
Scar tissue serves the body the same way patch repairs do on small cracks in the road. When muscles or other tissues are overstressed or injured, our bodies use scar tissue as a patch repair. This is naturally how your body heals. If the source of the injury is not corrected, the tissue will accumulate too much scar tissue creating a problem. This is similar to when a road has had too many patch repairs and no longer smooth.
ART is a way to smooth out your muscles and tissue or “resurface the road”. It is not a massage technique which is used for decreasing muscle tension. This technique works out the scar tissue and helps the tissues to heal normally with long lasting results. It is important to note that pain, numbness or other symptoms may not be resolved if the scar tissue is not broken up or the source of the tension is not discovered. Our highly trained chiropractor is knowledgeable in ART and will perform a careful, thorough exam.
Class IV Laser Therapy
What does the Class IV Laser do?
Laser Theory ~ All light is composed of photons. Photons are small packets of light energy – in the form of waves – with a defined wavelength & frequency. Photon energy is able to more effectively penetrate the skin & underlying structures, therefore accelerating the healing process. Light travels at a constant speed & oscillates up & down as it moves forward. Laser light holds its intensity until it is absorbed by a medium (body). When applied to an organism, Laser light, tuned to specific wavelengths & frequencies, stimulates metabolic processes at the cellular level.
Summary ~ Lasers increase cellular energy levels, allow pain relief & accelerate cellular healing.
Pricing ~ Laser treatment is not covered by Insurance. Treatment sessions are $45.

Clinical Benefits of Laser Therapy
Laser therapy has an anti-edemic effect as it causes vasodilation, but also because it activates the lymphatic drainage system (drains swollen areas). As a result, there is a reduction in swelling caused by bruising or inflammation.
2. Anti-Pain (Analgesic):
Laser therapy has a high beneficial effect on nerve cells which block pain transmitted by these cells to the brain & decreases nerve sensitivity. With less inflammation, there is less edema & less pain.
3. Accelerated Tissue Repair & Cell Growth:
Photons of light from lasers penetrate deeply into tissue & accelerate cellular reproduction & growth. The laser light increases the energy available to the cell so that the cell can take on nutrients faster & get rid of waste products.
4. Improved Vascular Activity:
Laser light will significantly increase the formation of new capillaries in damaged tissue that speeds up the healing process, closes wounds quickly & reduces scar tissue.
5. Increased Metabolic Activity:
Laser therapy creates higher outputs of specific enzymes, greater oxygen & food particle loads for blood cells.
6. Trigger Points & Acupuncture Points:
Laser therapy stimulates muscle trigger points & acupuncture points on a non-invasive basis providing musculoskeletal pain relief.
7. Reduced Fibrous Tissue Formation:
Laser therapy reduced the formation of scar tissue following tissue damage from cuts, scratches, burns & surgery.
8. Improved Nerve Function:
Slow recovery of nerve functions in damaged tissue can result in numbness & impaired limbs. Laser light will speed up the process of axonal regeneration, nerve cell reconnection & increase the amplitude of action potentials to optimize muscle action.
Laser light has a direct effect on immunity status by stimulation of immunoglobulins & lymphocytes. Laser therapy is absorbed by chromophores (molecule enzymes) that react to laser light. The enzyme flavomono-nucleotide is activated & starts the production of ATP which is the major carrier of cell energy & the energy source for all chemical reactions in the cells.
10. Faster Wound Healing:
Laser light stimulates fibroblast development (fibroblasts are the building blocks of collagen which is predominant in wound healing) in damaged tissue. Collagen is the essential protein required to replace old tissue or to repair tissue injuries.
